Is inverter air conditioner really more power efficient Power consumption measured at home, it depends on the situation!

Regardless of whether it is cold or hot, air conditioning is basically used. When buying air conditioners, inverter air conditioners are a big gimmick promoted by merchants. They claim to be quieter, more power-efficient, and more comfortable than fixed-frequency air conditioners. Specific to the price, there is no doubt that inverter air conditioners are much more expensive than fixed frequency air conditioners. Is the inverter air conditioner really so good? What is the difference with a fixed frequency air conditioner?

Where is the inverter air conditioner better than the fixed frequency?

In fact, the working principle of inverter air conditioner and fixed frequency air conditioner is exactly the same. As we all know, the power supply voltage in our country is 220 volts and 50 Hz. When the power supply frequency remains the same, the fixed-frequency air-conditioning compressor speed remains basically the same. It is easy to adjust the indoor temperature by constantly "starting and stopping". It causes the room temperature to be hot and cold, which also consumes more electricity. "Inverter air conditioner" adds an inverter module, which controls the temperature by changing the compressor's power supply frequency and adjusting the speed of the compressor to ensure small room temperature fluctuations and low power consumption. This is the technical difference between inverter air conditioners and fixed-frequency air conditioners. But when it comes to daily use, is there really that great advantage of inverter air conditioners?

Is inverter air conditioner more power efficient?

This time we are in a state-level key laboratory, using two rooms with the same area and the same indoor temperature and humidity to test an inverter air conditioner and a fixed frequency air conditioner.

Through this set of equipment specifically used to detect air conditioners, it can be seen that the power consumption of inverter air conditioners is about 1.3 kilowatt-hours per hour at the stage of just starting up. The power consumption of fixed frequency is 1.2 kilowatts, which is 1.2 degrees per hour. At this time, the power consumption of inverter air conditioners is 0.1 degrees more than that of fixed frequency air conditioners.

Running value during the start-up phase

What makes us feel strange is that after 2 hours of operation, there is almost no change in the instrument data, and the inverter air conditioner does not show the advantage of power saving; we have to keep the air conditioner running for 2 hours.

After 4 hours, the data finally changed. The operating current of the inverter air conditioner dropped from 6.9 A to the current 2.9 A, and the power consumption dropped from 1.3 degrees per hour to about 0.5 degrees. The operating current and power consumption of fixed-frequency air conditioners have basically not changed. At this time, the power-saving advantages of inverter air conditioners have emerged.

The experimental results tell us that whether the inverter air conditioner saves electricity has a lot to do with its running time. If the running time is less than four hours, then the power consumption of the fixed frequency air conditioner and the inverter air conditioner is almost the same, but if the running time exceeds four hours, the power saving advantage of the inverter air conditioner is very obvious. So whether to choose variable frequency or fixed frequency, you can also choose according to your habits. If you use the air conditioner for less than four hours each time, or you will frequently switch the air conditioner, you can choose fixed frequency air conditioner because it is more expensive than variable frequency air conditioners. There are certain advantages; if the air conditioner is often used for more than four hours, we recommend that you choose an inverter air conditioner, because the longer the use time, the more obvious the power saving effect.
