The air conditioner doesn’t cool right after I bought it. I bought a fake brand.

Summer is here, and the sales season for air conditioners is also coming. However, recently some citizens have bought "fake air conditioners." Obviously it is a new product of the well-known brand Midea, why does it stop cooling after just a few days of purchase?

Citizens’ feedback: Buying a new air conditioner for 4,600 yuan turned out to be a counterfeit product

Last month, the citizen Mr. Chen bought air conditioners in a small electrical appliance store in Licheng District. The merchant recommended a new air conditioner and boasted that the air conditioner has many functions, not only the appearance is fashionable, but also healthier than the old models in previous years. Mr. Chen was moved, and spent 4600 yuan to buy this new 3-hp Midea air conditioner.

Within a few days of installation and use, Mr. Chen discovered that this machine only supplied air, not cooling. The new air conditioner is not cooling, is it a refurbished product? Mr. Chen had some doubts, and immediately called Midea's after-sales telephone number, hoping to repair it as soon as possible. However, the after-sales service personnel inquired carefully about the air conditioner model purchased by Mr. Chen and said that this air conditioner was not manufactured by Midea and could not provide warranty service.

The air conditioner clearly has the brand logo of Midea, and the manual and warranty card are also beautiful. Why do the after-sales personnel refuse the warranty? Mr. Chen, who was perplexed, contacted the Midea manufacturer. After learning about the air conditioner, the Midea manufacturer also stated that the air conditioner was not manufactured by Midea, and Midea had never produced this type of air conditioner.

"Can you buy fake air conditioners too?!" Mr. Chen was very angry and immediately called 12315 to complain, asking the merchant to replace a genuine Midea air conditioner. Under the mediation of industrial and commercial law enforcement officers, the merchant admitted that the air conditioner was a "counterfeit product" and refunded it in full.

Industrial and Commercial Reminder: Don't blindly follow fashion when buying air conditioners

"If the price of branded air conditioners is much lower than that of large shopping malls, it is likely to be counterfeit goods." An electrical appliance salesperson told reporters that there are generally no counterfeit goods in regular and large electrical appliances shopping malls, but some street shops are bad. Merchants will choose to purchase counterfeit goods in pursuit of profit. Consumers don't know much about air conditioners, and they may not find counterfeit products.

The industry and commerce department reminds consumers that it is best to buy air conditioners in large household appliances stores, buy air conditioners with good brand reputation, and pay attention to standard use, correct installation, and regular cleaning of air conditioners. When buying an air conditioner, pay attention to the three major performance indicators and two certification marks, namely the cooling capacity, energy efficiency ratio, and noise of the air conditioner, as well as the "3C mark" and "energy efficiency mark". Don't be dominated by other certifications.

In addition, the air conditioner is a three-guarantee product specified by the state. The three-guarantee for the whole machine is valid for one year, and the three-guarantee for the main components (including compressor, fan motor, and thermostat) is valid for three years. The performance failure of the empty adjustment machine within 7 days from the date of receipt, the consumer can request a full return or exchange. If performance failure occurs within 15 days, consumers can request depreciation, return or repair. If the air conditioner cannot be used normally after two repairs during the warranty period, the consumer can request to return or replace the product based on the repair record. Consumers who have suffered damages to their legitimate rights and interests due to the purchase and use of air-conditioning products shall provide relevant evidence to promptly file a complaint with the local consumer protection department.
