What to do if there is a refrigerant leak in an industrial chiller

When an enterprise uses an industrial chiller, if there is a serious leakage of refrigerant, the equipment will inevitably stop operating. Because industrial chillers have complete safety early warning equipment, in the event of a severe refrigerant leakage, the system will automatically stop the operation of industrial chillers in order to reduce the probability of damage to other equipment. Especially for high-power industrial chiller equipment, when refrigerant leakage occurs, it is necessary to find the location of the leakage in time and deal with it through professional means. And before daily operation of the industrial chiller, the refrigerant pressure must be carefully tested, and the industrial chiller equipment must be turned on within the range of maintaining the normal pressure. If it is found that there is a refrigerant leakage problem in the industrial chiller, the leakage gap must be sealed in time, and an appropriate amount of refrigerant must be added to ensure the safe operation of the industrial chiller in the later period.

   The leakage of refrigerant in the chiller is usually caused by a leak in the unit components, such as the evaporator, one of the four major components of the refrigeration system. After all, there are more welding ports on the left and right sides of the evaporator, and there may be more leaks. This requires the welding technology of the factory's evaporator production staff.

The evaporator will have leaks. The main reason is that the welding technology is not good. When the copper tube is not burnt (the temperature does not reach 600℃~700℃), the welding rod is placed at the welding port, and the copper tube and the solder are not fused together. , Resulting in welding, slag, and non-smoothness of the welding joint, and leakage points will occur after a long time of use.

   When the evaporator of the split air-cooled chiller leaks, the unit should be shut down first, and then the manufacturer should be contacted to arrange for after-sales service personnel to deal with it. When dealing with refrigerant leakage, the evaporator can be removed and welded. The method of disassembly is:

   1. After identifying the missing points, mark them;

  2. If there is still refrigerant in the refrigeration system, store the refrigerant first;

  3. Use two 8-inch or 10-inch wrenches to remove the connecting lock nut of the indoor unit, and remove the electrical box on the right side of the indoor unit;

  4. Remove the fixed pipes and splints on the rear side of the evaporator, and remove the left and right positioning screws of the indoor evaporator;

  5. Lift the pipe from the back of the indoor unit with the left hand to move the evaporator forward. After pulling out the evaporator 5cm with your right hand, rotate the evaporator 90 degrees with both hands and pull it out along the pipe (pay attention to the operation with both hands and do not knock the fins down).

After removing the evaporator, put it in a flat and clean place, wipe off the oil traces of the leak with a dry cloth, solder the leak with silver solder, press check to confirm that there is no leakage, install the evaporator in the reverse order of disassembly machine.

  Of course, there are many possibilities for refrigerant leakage, not only is the evaporator leaking, it needs to be checked gradually.
