MODICON products

Modicon is a brand owned by Schneider Electric. Modicon created the first programmable logic controller (PLC) in the United States in 1968. Modicon stands for MOdular DIgital CONtroller.

In 1977, Modicon was acquired by Gould Electronics, which then sold the company to AEG in 1989. In 1994, AEG and Groupe Schneider combined to form AEG Schneider Automation, which in 1996 became a wholly owned subsidiary of Groupe Schneider. Groupe Schneider changed its name to Schneider Electric in 1999.
