一、Filter drier 1、Filter drier cold,dew or frosting possible ①Partial blocking of dirt strainer in filter drier. Area Liquid line System Part Filter drier Symptom Filter drier cold, dew or frosting possible. Potential Cause Partial blocking of dirt strainer in filter drier. Solution Check whether there are impurities in the system,clean out where necessary.Replace filter drier. Please remember to seal the old filter after removal.



②Filter drier completely or partly saturated with water or acid. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Filter drier Symptom Filter drier cold,dew or frosting possible Potential cause Filter drier completely or partly saturated with water or acid. Solution Check whether there is moisture or acid in the system,clean out where necessary and replace filter drier(with-DC-type filter)several times if necessary. If acid contamination is severe,replace refrigerant and oil charge,install DCR filter drier with interchangeable core in suction line.



2、Filter outlet side colder than inlet side(can be iced up) ①Filter clogged. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Filter drier Symptom Filter outlet side colder than inlet side(can be iced up) Poential Cause Filter clogged. Solution Replace filter drier.



②Filter under-sized. Solution Area Lquid line System Part Filter drier Symptom Filter outlet side colder than inlet side(can be iced up) Potential Cause Filter under-sized. Solution Compare filter size with system capacity. Replace filter drier.





二、Receiver 1、Liquid level in receiver too high Cooling output too low(possible compressor cycling) ①Partial blockage of a component in liquid line. Solution Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too high Potential Cause Partial blockage of a component in liquid line. Solution Find the component and clean or replace it.

②Thermostatic expansion valve fault(e.g.superheat too high,orifice too small,lost charge,partical blockage). Solution Area Liquid line System Part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too high Potential Cause Thermostatic expansion valve fault(e.g.superheat too high, orifice too small,lost charge,partial blockage). Solution Set thermostatic expansion valve to a lower superheat setting or check if a bigger orifice will bring the superheat down.When changing/removing the orifice,check if dirt etc.blocks the open the valve. If the charge is still there it will open. 2、Liquid level in receiver too low

①Insufficient refrigerant in system. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential Cause Insufficient refrigerant in system. Solution Invesigate cause(leakage,overcharge in evaporator),repair fault and charge system if necessary. ②Evaporator overcharged. Solution Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low. Potential cause Evaporator overcharged. Solution Thermostatic expansion valve setting/installation not ok,bulb location wrong. ③Thermostatic expansion valve fault(e.g.superheat setting too low.bulb location wrong). Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential Cause Thermostatic expansion valve fault(e.g.superheat setting too low.bulb location wrong). Solution Set thermostatic expansion valve to a higher superheat setting and check expansion valves bulb location(after evaporator,all collector pipes and in front of external pressure equalization) ④refrigerant collection in condenser because condensing pressure is too low Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential cause Refrigerant collection in condenser because condensing pressure is too low Solution Air-cooled condensers:Establish condensing pressure regulation by fan motor speed regulation,e.g. type RGE. ⑤Insufficient refrigerant in system. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential Cause Insufficient refrigerant in system. Solution Investigate cause(leakage,overcharge in evaporator),repair fault and charge system if necessary. ⑥Evaporator overcharged. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential Cause Evaporator overcharged. Solution Thermostatic expansion valve setting/installation not ok,bulb location wrong. Cooling output normal ⑦refrigerant charge in systm too large. Solution Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Liquid level in receiver too low Potential Cause Refrigerant charge in system too large. Solution Recover a suitable quantity of refrigerant,but condensing pressure must remain normal and the sight glass free of vapour. 3、Temperature in receiver too high No subcooled liquid ①KVD receiver pressure regulator set for too low a pressure. Solution Area Liquid line System part Receiver Symptom Temperature in receiver too high Potential Cause KVD receiver pressure regulator set for too low a pressure. Solution Set the receiver pressure regulator at a higer pressure.It might also be necessary to increase the setting of the condensing pressure regulaor.

Bellows in KVD receiver pressure regulator might be leaking. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Receiver Symptom Temperature in receiver too high Potential Cause Bellows in KVD receiver pressure regulator might be leaking Solution Slowly loosen protective cap.If pressure or traces of refrigerant exist under the cap,there is a leak in the bellows.Replace valve. 三、Sight glass 1、Bubbles in sight glass after filter

Solution Compare filter size with system capacity.Replace filter drier. ②Filter clogged. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Bubbles in sight glass after filter Potential Cause Filter under-sized. Solution Compare filter size with system capacity.Replace filter drier. ④Insufficient sub-cooling. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass. Symptom Bubbles in sight glass after filter Potential Cause Insufficient sub-cooling. Solution Check reason for insufficient subcooling.Do not charge refrigerant only because of insufficient sub-cooling. ⑤Insufficient refrigerant charge. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Bubbles in sight glass after filter Potential Cause Insufficient refrigerant charge. Solution Charge necessary refrigerant. 2、Filter outlet side colder than inlet side(can be iced up) Pressure drop across filter too high. Solution Compare filter size with system capacity.Replace filter drier. 3、Moisture indicator discoloured Yellow ①Moisture in system Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Moisture indicator discoloured. Potential Cause Moisture in system. Solution Check system for leakage.Repair if necessary.Check system for acid.Replace filter drier,Several times if necesary.In severe cases it can be necesary to change refrigerant and oil. ②Too much moisture in system. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Moisture indicator discoloured Potential Cause Too much moisture in system. Solution Replacefilter drier.Please remember to seal the old filter after removal. ③Brown or black ④Impurities,i.e.small particles in system. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Moisture indicator discoloured. Potential Cause Impurities,i.e.small particles in system. Solution Clean out system if necessary.Replace SGI/SGN sight glass and filter drier. 4.Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve. ①Condensing pressure too low. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Condesing pressure too low. Solution Set condensing pressure to higher value on KVR or fan speed controller.If there are still bubbles in the sight glass,add refrigerant. ②Receiver stop valve too small or not fully open. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Receiver stop valve too small or not fully open. Solution Replace valve or fully open it. ③Hydrostatic pressure drop in liquid line too high(height difference between thermostatic expansion valve and receiver too large). Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve. Potential Cause Hydrostatic pressure drop in liquid line too high (heiht differece between thermostatic expansion valve and receiver too large). Solution Install heat exchanger between liquid and suction lines ahead of rise in liquid line.

④Badly or incorrectly set condensing pressure regulation causing liquid collection in condenser. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Badly or incorrectly set condensing pressure regulation causing liquid collection in condenser. Solution Replace or reset KVR regulator at correct value. ⑤Condenser pressure regulation by start/stop of condenser fan can cause vapour in liquid line for some time after fan start. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Condenser pressure regulation by start/stop of condenser fan can cause vapour in liquid line for some time after fan start. Solution If necessary,replace regulation with condensing pressure regulation via valves(KVD+KVR)or with fan motor speed regulation e.g RGE or XGE. ⑥Insufficient liquid in system. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Insufficient liquid in system. Solution Few bubbles are present,otherwise there is a risk of the system becoming overcharged. ⑦Insutticient liquid subcooling ⑧Liquid line too long in relation to diameter. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermstatic expansion valve. Potential Cause Liquid line too long in relation to diameter. Solution Replace liquid line pipes with a suitable/correct diameter. ⑨Liquid line diameter too small. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles i sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Liquid line diameter too small. Solution Replace liquid line pipes with a suitable/correct diameter. ⑩Sharp bends,etc.in liquid line. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Sharp bends,etc.in liquid line. Solution Replace sharp bends and components causing too large a pressure drop. ⑪Partial blockage of filter drier. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Partial blockage of filter drier. Solution Check for impurities,clean out if necessary,replace filter drier. ⑫Solenoid valve defect. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Solenoid valve defect. Solution Change to a smaller size of solenoid valve in case unstable operation valve occurs(frequent opening and closing=operation below minimum pressure drop of a servovalve). ⑬Insufficient liquid subcooling because of heat penetration of liquid line,possibly from high temperature around liquid line. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles insight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Insufficient liquid subcooling because of heat penetration of liquid line,possibly from high temperature around liquid line. Solution Reduce ambient ambient temperature or install heat exchanger between liquid and suction lines or insulate liquid line,possibly together with suction line. ⑭Insufficient liquid subcooling,water-cooled condenser

⑮Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve. Solution Area Liquid line System Part Sight glass Symptom Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve Potential Cause Vapour bubbles in sight glass ahead of thermostatic expansion valve. Solution Swap over cooling water inlet and outlet.(Water and refrigerant flow must be opposite).
