Thomas Industrial was founded in 1953 by Lee B. Thomas. The company's business scope ranges from lighting, spraying systems, and vulnerability detection systems, to the unique series of products with multiple pump technologies that still exist today.

In 1996, Thomas Industries acquired Welch Vacuum Technology and entered the laboratory market of high vacuum flow control devices with a new look. In 2020, Gardner Denver merged with Ingersoll Rand to become a new and larger Ingersoll Rand. Now Thomas became one of Ingersoll Rand's brands.
