Refrigeration compressors can be divided into two types: volume type and speed type according to their working principles. The displacement compressor is divided into two types of piston type and rotary type.
The piston compressor relies on the reciprocating motion of the piston to compress the gas in the cylinder, usually through the crank connecting rod mechanism to transform the rotary motion of the prime mover into the reciprocating motion of the piston. Rotary compressors are gas compressions that rely on changes in volume generated when the rotor in the cylinder rotates. Rotary compressors can also be divided into many different structural types such as rotary, scroll, screw and sliding vane types.
The speed type compressor uses a mechanical method to obtain a high flow rate of the flowing gas, and then reduces the gas flow rate in the expanding channel, thereby converting the kinetic energy of the gas into pressure energy to achieve the purpose of increasing the gas pressure. In refrigeration or heat pump systems, speed compressors are almost all centrifugal compressors.
