How to Install a Flame Detector?

After purchasing a flame detector, we may need to install it by ourselves. To install it correctly, here are some points you need to pay attention to.

Installation Principles

1. Ensure that the detected area is within the effective range of the field of view when wiring.
2. Ensure that the mounting surface is firm and shock-resistant.
3. Exclude high-temperature objects in the vicinity of the flame detector.
4. Avoid obstacles blocking the detector. For obstacles whose horizontal and vertical dimensions do not exceed 0.5 meters, the distance between the detectors and the obstacles should not be less than 2.5 meters; when the overall dimensions exceed 0.5 meters and cannot be excluded, install more detectors.

Installation Methods

1. Firmly fix the fixed base of the detector on the position to be installed.
2. Align the detector with the detection direction.
3. Lead the cable into the device interface. Match the corresponding type of explosion-proof flexible pipe. Otherwise, the explosion-proof and protective performance of the detector will be reduced. The length of the explosion-proof flexible pipe is determined by the actual installation location.

Tips for Installation

1. Install the flame detector at twice the height of the target in the protected area. Within the effective range of the detector, it cannot be blocked by obstacles, including transparent materials such as glass and other spacers. The detection range needs to cover all targets and areas to be protected.
2. The flame detector can be installed on the wall, roof or fixed frame. When the detector is installed, it is generally inclined downward at an angle of 30-45°, that is, it can look down and look forward, and at the same time, it can reduce the possibility of contamination of the mirror surface.
All possible fires in the protected area should be kept in a straight line to avoid indirect incidence and reflection. The distance of the detector to the detected target is dependent on the characteristics of the fire, generally not less than 1.5m. The installation height is generally not less than 2.5 meters.
3. In order to reduce the detection blind area, another flame detector is generally installed in the opposite corner. This also provides backup in case of a failure of one of the flame detectors.

These are the tips to consider when installing a flame detector. Last but not least, avoid possible sources of false alarms within the cone detection range of the flame detector.
